Watch Video First Then Read My Blog Post Below

work-smarter-not-harder-by-lisa-bardotOne of the people I follow and admire in our Industry is Holton Buggs and NO I am not in the same business as he is.  I have never met him in person or done any type of business with him but he is someone I follow.

See, in my other blog post about What To Do When Your Upline Quits I talked about getting mentors from within your company and outside of your company.

Sometimes your mentors don’t have to speak to you.  Most of my business mentors don’t even know I exist.  I just follow them and do what they recommend. But let’s be clear just because I buy their products or follow them does not mean I am going to hop from my company to theirs.

I have zero interest in joining their MLM companies.  What I am interested in is picking their brains. I will buy products and go to conferences if I have to just to pick a successful entrepreneurs brains.  I am interested in studying their success patterns.

I have about 10 people I diligently follow and buy products from and they are not in my Network Marketing company. But I also have mentors within my own company.  Now, you have to know your business well and be secure in your own business to do this.  Otherwise you will find yourself moving from one company to the next.

Whatever you have to do to make your business work, you first and foremost have to be willing to do the work.  I love what Hotton Buggs says “This is Network Marketing Not Net Sit Marketing, Net Play Marketing, Net Think About It Marketing or Net One Day I Will Get To It Marketing”.

The Problem with most people in Network Marketing is that they miss the work part.  Hotton Buggs teaches Network Marketers the difference between just being busy working but being productive.  Yes sometimes you can be busy being busy and not producing any results.

If anyone is promising you overnight success without putting in the effort it takes to be successful, they are lying to you. I don’t care what billion dollar MLM company they are with.  If you don’t have a crystal clear routine for your Daily Income Producing Activities, you are bound to fail.

Here is a good test for you – take out your calendar right now.  What IPAs (Income Producing Activities) do you have on it for today, tomorrow, and for the next two weeks?

It should be filled with activities like business presentations both offline and online, training new team members either one on one or over the phone, blogging for business at least once a day, making some customers and/or prospects calls, writing your automated emails, etc.  What is in your to do list for today and the next few days?

If your calendar is blank, you need to something really fast – I mean like yesterday.  If your business is not growing, it is dying.  Posting product photos and links on Facebook does not count.  That is not an IPA.  It is a hobby.

If you want to take advantage of Facebook and other social media marketing then you need to take a proper course that teaches you how to do that.  Posting promo links and photos is not marketing – it is spamming your friends!

Your success in this type of business depends solely on YOU not your sponsor or your upline.  You can succeed with or without those two.  The harder you work the more money you will make and the more families you will help make money too.

If you want it bad enough you will work for it.  You can either work hard and make good income in this industry or give excuses and make no money.  Making money and excuses don’t go together.  When your financial situation hurts enough you will quit with your excuses.

I know that was my driving force!  When I felt the pain in my pocket and bank account, I gave up excuses and fear of change.  Sometimes you just have to find a way around excuses and obstacles and make things happen!

Now go fill your calendar with Income Producing Activities.  Everyday you should have one or two activities that will help you grow your business.  You can make calls while driving to and from work.

You can make calls during your lunch break.  Half hour is enough to eat. Sacrifice the other half hour to write a blog post, cut a business video training or presentation, do a behind-with-goals-and-billsnew team member orientation or call a prospect.

We all have more time than we think.  There is always something you can cut shot break, lunch hour, social media time, sleep and here is the big one – Give Up Some Of Your Favorite TV Shows.

If you have the time to Keep Up With The Kardashians, follow various Real Housewives Drama or keep up with Scandal, then you have time to do your business.  It is all a matter of priority. Whatever your prioritize, will occupy your time.
